When things get fishy…
(Jan 22, 2025) and there the video for “Dancing with Shadows” is out –
one of our best, for sure!
See it HERE on YouTube, or click on image below!
(Dec 31,2024) So, here it is! “Dancing with Shadows” – part IV of the Metamorphosis Trilogy – in high quality Wav file:
(Dec 12, 2024) Øyvind claims we might have a Christmas present for you all… The final mixing of “Dancing with Shadows” could be done in the coming days, and then the Master needs to be checked on different sound systems and final verdict come from Kristian’s car stereo, before we release this masterpiece – part IV of the Metamorphosis Trilogy!

(Sept 24, 2024) The above image looks more dramatic than it is, but Henrik did in fact take off to work in South Sudan mid-August. After having heard the news of him moving, Kristian put his guitar for sale stating he was selling it due to the band splitting up… But no, it’s merely making our composing/arranging/recording process slightly different – we hope.
Henrik did bring a bass guitar to South Sudan, and has recording software (Reaper), Focusrite audio interface/”sound card” and a microphone with him too. He even wrote a new part last week. Kristian still has a couple of guitars, and Knapper has written a brand new song. We are in fact working on both that one, an instrumental Knapper and Henrik put together earlier this year, a song we jammed out parts for in July that is to become the music to lyrics written last year called “Echoes of Gunfire“, and apparently Kristian has another composition up his sleeve as well. Henrik even claims he has another full composition ready that just needs guitar parts, drums, vocals, arrangement, and…oh…that could take some time with this band, right? Erik keeps flying (he is after all a pilot) to Canada (home of Rush) and claims it is work, but we know he also do get the Rush vibe and inspiration while there, so who knows what he suddenly drags along… 4theMoney is not dead…yet!
(July 28, 2024) Expect the unexpected from 4theMoney! A new little song – an intro to part III of the Metamorphosis Trilogy. Video and all…!
Check it out on YouTube HERE or click on the image below.
And you can listen to it on Spotify HERE
(June 16, 2024) What??? It’s out? No more procrastination? “Good Times” (Metamorphosis Trilogy part deux) is finally out. It will be on Spotify in a day or two, but why wait? Here in better quality than Spotify: Good Times!
And click image below to see the really cool video for Good Times on YouTube!
Comments from around the world to the new song:
Airline colleague: Really cool! It’s time for reflections, I see. The music has commercial appeal too, quite catchy. You have worked professionally with the video, too. Good job, all of you! It’s about time you guys play live in a club!
Radio boss: “Still going strong! Cool tune, but (jokingly) a bit short for radio
High school friend: Not bad, not as heavy as your previous stuff – I like that!
Someone (?): Fantastic tune – more accessible for those of us who don’t dive as deep into the musical layers
Former colleague and musician: I dig you guys! Wonderful energy!

(May 8, 2024): Henrik just stated he will never again write lyrics where the chorus starts with: “Working tomorrow for a better today – a lesson in procrastination”. Why? Because the band takes everything literally! It’s now more than 5 weeks since we recorded the main tracks of all four (drums, bass and two guitars), and we are still working on new details. We have added vocals, more percussion, a short part of ukulele, more guitars, etc, but still a few weeks to go before Øyvind can make the first Mastering of it (we usually go through 4-5 of mastering before we are all happy and it can be released on Spotify). We do however have a strong belief in finishing this song before July (this year)!
(April 1st – we kid you not – 2024) Today we recorded the main tracks of all four of us (live in studio) to a completely new song, composed by Kristian. Working title has been “the new song” but we have some lyrics that could fit, in which it will be called “Good Times (part II of the Metamorphosis trilogy)”….!
(Dec 25 2023)
And the video for “the Nutkicker Sweet” is on YouTube now – click image below:
(Nov 15 2023) And just like that, “The Nutkicker Sweet” has been recorded and is out. That is also the final song of our album “Aqua Mortalis”. Here on our web page, you can hear it (and the full album) in slightly better sound quality than you get on Spotify. Enjoy Erik’s wild and hard-hitting composition here:

(June 16) Yesterday Erik did his drum editing, but as photo reveals, he also played the intro riff of Spooky on chimes… That should be a fun twist!
(June 1st 2023) We kid you not…. This eve we recorded “Spooky Forests”!!! As always, we play the full song together as a band in one (not necessarily first) take. Drums, bass and the two guitars. That way we think we get a certain flow. Naturally, there’s a lot more work to be done: vocals, flute, spice, many more guitars, fretless bass solo/melody, Erik’s folder of minor and major edits for the drums, adding percussion, more guitars, seasoning with salt n pepper, overdubs, even more guitars, and of course mixing and mastering. Should be released on Spotify by Christmas…….2025?
(April 2023) Not dead yet! Process was slow last year (read below) but we’ve been back in the studio recently and ready to re-record ‘Tales from Spooky Forests’ that we composed and played some 30+ years ago. We’ve kept the verses, riffs, and solo/bridge, but composed a brand new chorus. Should find time to record and publish by July (not sure which year, though…). And! We are working on completely new material. Pile and Buttons jammed out some new parts the other day that we are now arranging and rehersing as a band. Kristian always warms up in the studio with some new part that the rest of us love and are excited about being part of a new composition of his. And there’s lots and lots of loose parts that some of us has composed over the past 5-10 years. There will be new songs from some of that too – but again, we don’t know when – the band is unfortunately not how we make a living, so the tempo is not always what Erik says it is (drummers!!!).

(September 2022) So, it’s been a while… This year is the year of the unexpected; hard work, less jamming, weddings and what not! We were about to get ready to work on the next song from 35 years ago, “Spooky Forests”, and we had jammed out a new chorus for it in April. Then Henrik had to go to South Sudan for 2 months, summer vacations happened, and Kristian got married. But now we are working on Spooky again. We are excited – our two fans are as well – it will be something very different – we kid you not!

Thursday (Feb 17) we recorded video for Pile of Buttons. To watch the final product, click on the image below of Pile (Stabel in Norwegian) and Buttons (Knapper) having some fun with their twin necks:
So…. Our huuuge following – all 5 of you, are you ready for an instrumental?
Pile of Buttons (Stabell med Knapper) from 30 years ago – a true progressive piece with 8 parts/themes – rocking grooves, more complex odd meter passages, beautiful mellow parts, solos and solid musicianship (at times).
Well, a bit delayed as we just needed two weeks extra to adjust the sound of the kick drum (!) and triple check the final mixes/masters on the car stereo of Kristian’s Audi… But, here it is – A Pile of Buttons. Enjoy in high resolution Wav-file here:

The video “FIRER’N” (the 4th one) is our craziest song yet – written back in the late 80s. Wild bass line, wicked guitars and epic drumming. The lyrics are a mix of free association and a tribute to the more psychedelic music of the late 60s. Re-recorded by 4theMoney in September 2021. The video is a new and different approach to the previous ones – we’re proud of this one – click on image below, hope you Enjoy!
You can also just listen to Firer’n by clicking on the play button below:

Reactions from listeners/viewers around the world:
Comment from Brazil: “Excellent sound, guys! Congrats!!”
Comment from progressive rock musician in Holland (seeing/hearing the intro video):
What do you get when you take the love for good progressive rock music, (like Rush, Pink Floyd, Camel, Yes, King Crimson, Jethro Tull, Emerson Lake & Palmer, to name a few) put that in four Norwegian boys. Top it off with a dash of Benny Hill and let it ferment for 25 years? Something that’s refined and rich, smooth like aged rhum, yet fresh and juvenile Jack Daniel’s & Dr.Pepper mix. And it’s called 4theMoney. Beer, wine, good food and old friends. That’s the secret to awesome prog. This one is layered on so many levels. Singing whales on a fretless bass, an OH-zone shirt. And what’s that on 1:40 – 1:43? Oh, and beautiful melodic symphonic rock too! Prog on dudes!! You know things will be fishy when the video clip shows Spinal Tap.
From a “wire-guy”: “I hope you’re not looking for a sensible conversation, look at you with your grey hair and grown up shirts with sleeves. I take it’s to cover your batwings. Hope you realize that the band mates have unplugged your amp, you’re better off playing air guitar – it doesn’t hurt one’s ears so much. If the band gets as big as your waistband you should be ok .What are you playing old crock and roll, keep the wig it will help with your midlife crisis .If you tour Japan I’ll come along for the free ride. and what’s the difference between a lentil and chickpea? I wouldn’t pay 2000 kroner for a lentil on my face. Uncle”
Reaction from Spain: “What a great sound, great video, and (selfishly) great to see my old guitar being played by an expert! Wishing you and the rest of the band all good fortune in the future. You deserve it”
Reaction on YouTube: “Filed Under: What Do You get when Vikings can’t go out into the World because of a pandemic A lot of great tunes finally recorded. Can’t wait for them to go out into the world in their ships to bring their Viking Prog to a stage near you (love how the Rickenbacker sounds btw)”
From Northern Norway: “A good mix of Rush, Pogues and Strawbs. Really good! I see and hear high Neil Peart factor”
From the South-West coast: “Good music, good interaction, nice breaks, smart (academic) humor, nice lyrics. Why have you not made a record/CD earlier?”
From high up in the clouds (no, not God, but a pilot): “Hey, you guys are professionals. Fun to read the story behind under/during the video”
From the US: “Can’t wait for the box set release!”
From Panama: “Excellent job you guys are doing. Music is awesome! Congrats!”
From Spain about ‘Pile of Buttons’: “I’ve listened to it three times on quick succession and found so much more every time. I absolutely love it. Thank you so much for sending it! Selfishly, I needed a bit of cheering up and that did the trick”
Spontaneous first comment from old classmate Mikael after hearing/seeing video for “Treer’n”): “Really good! Storytelling (Epping Forest), some reggae, guitar solos and lots of different elements but still holistic (everything is well connected). Fun song and video, and last but not least; very tight, well played and catchy. Oh, and I dig the humor in these videos! You get in a great mood watching them!”
Another spontaneous reaction from a Danish viewer/listener: “A fine piece of music with lots of humor and joy of playing. You’ll end up with a new carreer – super well done by you all! One can both see and hear that you are enjoying this, and your playing is on an impressive high level”
Another rection from Spain: “Love it!!!! You guys create such a full wall of sound. xxxxx”
Reaction from deep down south in the US (after hearing “Treer’n”): “This is GREAT! Nice riff at 3:51. Actually, my favorite thing is the vocals. Kinda feels like I’m listening to Odin, Thor, Týr and Heimdallr”
Reaction from another classmate back in the 80s: “Wow, this was super cool! You both play and sing awesome”
Reaction from Northern Ireland after hearing Toer’n: “That scream in the middle is bloody epic!”
Comment from Norwegian Parliament representative: “Cool, that swings well. Videos with some humor works as well”
Reaction from Spain: “Woooow, you play so well!”
“Beyond the darkness –
there’s got to be more!”
